Gingerbread Scones

This recipe is a favorite of my family:

2 C flour
3 T brown sugar
2 t baking powder
1 t ginger
1/2 t baking soda
1/2 t salt
1/2 t cinnamon

Combine the above ingredients then cut in 1/4 C margarine.

Mix the following in a separate bowl:
1/3 C molasses
1/4 C milk
1 egg yolk (reserve egg whites in another bowl)

Stir into dry ingredients and mix just until moistened.

Turn onto floured surface and knead 6-8 times. Roll into an 8-inch circle. Cut into wedges and place 1" apart on a greased baking sheet.

Beat the egg white until frothy and brush over scones. Sprinkle with sugar and bake for 12-15 minutes at 400 degrees.
