the downfall of flying standby

It's hard to complain about the perk of flying standby. I mean, it's great to fly for free nationally and for dirt cheap internationally. The trip to St. Maarten will cost us $60/person. WooHoo! So, truly I am not whining.

However, without complaining, there is a downfall. Sometimes you just don't get to your destination.

We were at the airport this morning for a 1 am flight. All looked good until they downgraded the aircraft. All of a sudden there were 40 fewer seats which meant we were still sitting in the airport when the plane took off. bummer!

To look on the bright side, Shanley got to cheer/dance today in the Riverton Arts Festival and then got to play in her lacrosse game. Kevin and I got to go to a wedding reception of someone we care about and then entire family then got the chance to see Whitney (Brakston's fiance) this weekend.

We'll try again tomorrow morning to get a flight and start our vacation. It's all good.
