to the "French side"

Yesterday we took a bus to Marigot which is the capital city on the French side of the island. We climbed to Fort Louis and viewed the old cannons and peekholes and such from high atop the city. It was some interesting history and gave us a great view of the Caribbean and of the eastern side of the island.

We poked around in a few shops as well as an open market.

Back in Phillipsburg (where we're staying), we walked down to the museum. It is a small museum but was quite interesting. It contained old artifacts like items recovered from a British warship that wrecked in the Great Bay (where we are) and clothing from the Arawack Indians. There was also rum bottles from 1690!

We walked a LOT but Chandler, Shanley, and I still found time to play in the water for a couple hours.

Add all that walking to a morning beach run and a swim and I was definitely ready for bed early!
