Med Cruise part 2 - Naples, Sorrento and the Amalfi Coast

After our hectic travel days, Monday was at sea which was really nice. We managed to sleep in and then relax by the pool.

Tuesday found us docked in Naples. I had booked us a shore excursion that day to go to Sorrento and the Amalfi Coast. The view from the bus window isn't great but here's a quick view of Naples:
We were able to see Mount Vesuvius as we traveled. There had been shore excursions to Mount Vesuvius and Pompeii but I was more interested in the Amalfi Coast. We caught a quick glimpse of some of the ruins of Pompeii from our bus window but I didn't capture it on film.
As we approached the coastline, the views of the coastline were spectacular! I looked the blue, blue water and the cliffs!
In Sorrento we visited a woodwork shop where they do the inlaid wood pieces. They were beautiful. We got a demonstration and I couldn't believe how long these pieces take to make - a year or more. Whoa! Then we had plenty of time to wander around. Here's some views of Sorrento.

Italy was definitely scooter heaven! There were scooters everywhere and we could definitely see why that would be the preferred way to travel - they can maneuver around traffic much better (passing traffic and such) and fit down those narrow streets!
Sorrento has hundreds of hotels! That is their main business. Several of the hotels are right on the cliffs. Then you can take elevators or stairs down to the beach where they have sundecks. A few of the hotels even have you take elevators down to your room as the rooms are spread up and down the hills.

After a lunch in Sorrento, we drove along the Amalfi Coast to Amalfi. We had to pass through Positano which was my favorite! It only has one street which at times is so narrow traffic can only move in one direction so one side or the other has to wait. Houses are strewn up and down the hill so residents must climb stairs to get to and from the street. It was a beautiful place! Positano:

Once we spent some time in Amalfi, we boarded this ferry which took us along the coast to Salerno.
