Saturday McKayla also qualified for the State meet in the 1600m with a time of 5:18.42 (she needed 5:19.71). She ran 6 seconds better than her previous best! Wahoo!
This also gives her the school record in the 1600m (she got the record for the 3200m last year during her freshman year). Pretty exciting stuff!
We know the school record holder for the boys (Trevor Sharp) in both these events because he graduated with Brakston and they were cross-country/track teammates. Trevor was at the meet on Saturday so I snapped a picture of the two school distance-record holders.

You didn't tell me she had the school record. That's awesome! Who did she snatch it from?
