Resolution Check-Up

Better late than never. I just didn't have time to blog at the end of November so here is my monthly accounting of how I'm doing on my goals.

Lose Weight - Yikes! Gained weight again. Pretty frustrating. I ran long miles surrounding Thanksgiving, tried to not badly overeat, and still gained a ton. The only bright spot is that I did lose some weight after Thanksgiving.

Read Jesus the Christ - COMPLETE! Yea!

Go snowshoeing - nope

Run Ragnar - COMPLETE!

Write My Grandma's Life History - No progress this month.

Do family search indexing - I did do quite a bit of indexing.

Attend 5 Temples that I've Never Been to Before - I made it to the Denver Temple. It was nice.

Overall - failure on losing weight and my grandma's life history but good progress or complete in other areas.

Resolution Check-Up

Another month come and gone and it's time for my monthly day of accountability regarding my New Year's Resolutions.

Lose Weight - I am losing...losing this battle, that is. Not doing well at all. In fact, I gained. Must. Quit. Eating.

Read Jesus the Christ - COMPLETE! Yea!

Climb Mt. Timpanogos - Dangit! I decided that for safety's sake this one must go on the shelf until next year. We have late snow which prevented me from going up early and then a wedding that kept me too busy to go up. Once I cleared my schedule early this month, I determined that the Timpanogos Emergency Rescue Team had declared the season over and had disbanded. Not that I planned on needing rescuing but I don't feel a solo climb of Timp is a smart idea outside of the normal climbing season. I will re-try this goal next year. For now, I'm replacing it with going snowshhttp://www.blogger.com/img/blank.gifoeing for the first time (again, assuming the weather cooperates. I will need snow before year-end to do this one).

Run Ragnar - COMPLETE! Yea! This was a lot of fun! For more info, see here.

Write My Grandma's Life History - No progress this month.

Do family search indexing - I did do some indexing.

Attend 5 Temples that I've Never Been to Before - No new ones this month. I took McKayla to the St. George Temple and it was her first time being there but I've been to that one before so I can't count it.

Overall - failure on losing weight and my grandma's life history but good progress or complete in other areas.

Resolution Check-Up

It's time for my monthly day of accountability regarding my New Year's Resolutions. Do these months fly by or what?

Lose Weight - No progress. I lost weight then gained it back on my trip to DC. Then lost weight again and gained it back on our family reunion. So, the net result is I weigh the same I weighed at the end of June.

Read Jesus the Christ - COMPLETE! Yea!

Climb Mt. Timpanogos - Will do this one near the end of this month or the first of next month.

Run Ragnar - I am up to 9 miles and feeling good about my running. I've worked a bit on time but I am still a slow runner.

Write My Grandma's Life History - No progress this month.

Do family search indexing - I did do some indexing but am not sure how many names. I do know that one batch I did was the toughest I've ever done! I really couldn't decipher the hand-writing at all!

Attend 5 Temples that I've Never Been to Before - Still no progress. I looked at flights during the month and decided that I better put this one off until September when people quit traveling so that I can actually get on a flight.

Goal for this month - LOSE WEIGHT! The wedding is in one month.

Resolution Check-Up

It's time for my monthly day of accountability regarding my New Year's Resolutions.

Lose Weight - I actually was losing for most of the month. I was happy about it. Then I went camping over Easter weekend and the result was not pretty. I wiped out all of the loss I had. I think I could have still pulled off a loss for the month except I got injured over the weekend as well and haven't been able to work out for the past 9 days. That hurt my losing progress. Net result = no progress.

Read Jesus the Christ - Read another 110 pages (now on page 453. Making good progress here. I should finish this in August or September. Yea!

Climb Mt. Timpanogos - It's too cold and snowy to even be thinking about this goal yet. In fact, at the rate Spring is coming to Utah, the snow may never melt off the mountaintops!

Run Ragnar - Our team is registered for the Valley of Fire Ragnar in Las Vegas in October. It's a 195-mile 12-person relay race. The plan is that I will be runner #8 and will run legs 8, 20, and 32 for a total of 14.2 miles. That doesn't sound too bad.

Write My Grandma's Life History - No progress. I have checked on the status of my hard-drive recovery and they are still working on it.

Do family search indexing - I replaced the Walk for the Cure with this new goal. I indexed 323 names.

Attend 5 Temples that I've Never Been to Before - No progress but I have 2 new temples scheduled for May!

2011 Resolutions

Here's the resolutions for 2011:

Lose Weight - I want to lose 40 more pounds this year.

Read Jesus the Christ - It's been years since I've read this and since we're studying the New Testament this year, it seems like a good time to read this again.

Climb Mt. Timpanogos - That's right - I live in Utah and have never climbed Mt. Timpanogos. I am going to do that this year.

Run Ragnar - I have wanted to do this for years but this year I am actually going to do it. Somehow. Anyone need a team member? (or three because Brakston and McKayla want to do it too)

Write My Grandma's Life History - Fresh start. Here we go!

Do a Susan G. Komen 3-Day Walk for a Cure - I've wanted to do this for a couple of years as well. What has stopped me in the amount of money you have to raise - it scares me!

Attend 5 Temples that I've Never Been to Before - I don't have any specifics for which ones other than I think Alburqueque and Winter Quarters will be on the list. Probably Dallas as well. Those would all be pretty easy for me.

What are your goals?

resolution check-up

Well, it's the final accounting day. How did I do this year on keeping my resolutions? Hmmm, let's see...

Lose weight - I'm quite happy with my progress here for this month. The day after Christmas I started eating healthier and have already lost weight. Yea! Overall for the year, I am down 39.5 pounds from where I started the year. That is great but I still have a ways to go (yes, I was that overweight). This will continue to be a goal for the coming year but I feel positive I can readh my goal weight. If I just lose as much as I did this year, I'll be skinnier than I was in high school!

Earn YW Medallion - FINISHED! McKayla and I both received our awards on Sunday, October 24th. Yea!

Write my grandma's life history - I made no progress in December. On the bright side, Kevin has a friend who told him another method for data recovery on our crashed computer. I am mildly hopeful because that would certainly be helpful. This one will also have to roll over to next year.

Do major projects early - Overall I did really well on this one this year! It certainly made for a relaxing Christmas. I've even got a good start on next year since I've got one present made and I'm already starting on the Christmas gifts for my sisters and friends.

Write a book - Overall I didn't do well on this one this year. I wrote a little here and there but probably have enough for a magazine article - certainly not a book!

Get 7 hours of sleep per night - I give up on this one. I actually slept in this morning until 4:25 am and was super excited because it's the first time in FOREVER that I haven't awoken between 3 and 3:30. 4:25 felt like sleeping in! I've talked to my doctor and she's told me to take Melatonin but it doesn't seem to do anything. I was beginning to get tempted to do drugs (Ambien, Tylenol PM, anything - I just wanted to sleep!)

Conclusion: I like the accountablity of having to report on my goals. It helps with motivation. I will do it again next year!

better late than never

Oops - I forgot to report on my goals at the end of November. At least I'm only a few days late.

Lose weight - Okay, not making progress in this area. I am actually up a couple pounds and I still have Christmas to get through. Setting my sights on not gaining in December and I'll go back to losing in January.

Earn YW Medallion - FINISHED! McKayla and I both received our awards on Sunday, October 24th. Yea!

Write my grandma's life history - I finally got motivated and got restarted on this project. I am feeling good about that.

Do major projects early
CPE - My total for the year is 44 hours. -FINSIHED in May
Christmas cards - FINISHED! The cards are done, the envelopes are addressed, and I even have the rough draft of the Christmas letter (which I won't finish until I am ready to send them out - you never know what exciting thing might happen.)
nieces and nephews birthday presents - FINISHED!
Christmas gifts - I am pretty much done with my shopping (other than maybe a few last minute odds and ends)! I even finished a lot of the gifts I am making.

Write a book - I worked on this one and made some progress.

Get 7 hours of sleep per night - I got 7 hours last night, does that count?

Conclusion: So glad I have to 'fess up every month. It keeps me going.

Resolution Check-Up

Reporting on my goals each month has been good for me. It really helps provide some motivation!

Lose weight - Okay, not making progress in this area. I am actually up a couple pounds. It's scary that we're starting into the holiday season.

Earn YW Medallion - FINISHED! McKayla and I both received our awards on Sunday, October 24th. Yea!

Write my grandma's life history - I'm still using the "computer crashed and I lost everything" excuse! I am still sobbing and trying to get motivated to start over, but am seriously lacking in motivation.

Christmas gifts - I did some shopping. I'm feeling good about this area, but would like to make a lot more progress during November.

Write a book - I worked on this one and made some progress.

Get 7 hours of sleep per night - Again, not so great. I am making an effort to get to bed early and have been fairly successful at that. Unfortunately, Alec is not cooperating. That kid only needs a few hours of sleep at night and he is LOUD! He either wakes me at 1 am because he hasn't even gone to bed yet and I have to get up and chase him into bed or he wakes me at 3 am because he's had enough sleep for the night.

Conclusion: So glad I have to 'fess up every month. It keeps me on my toes.

Resolution Check-Up

Okay, after not doing well over the summer months, I am back on track and making some progress.

Lose weight - Okay, not making progress in this area. I am actually up a couple more pounds. Life has been stressful and I've been eating my way through it. Ugh!

Earn YW Medallion - FINISHED! I am encouraging McKayla to finish hers so we can get our awards together.

Write my grandma's life history - I told you last month that my computer crashed. The hard drive went bad and nothing can be salvaged. I lost everything! I am still sobbing and trying to get motivated to start over.

Do major projects early
CPE - My total for the year is 44 hours. -FINSIHED in May
Christmas cards - I worked on them a little more but still not finished (getting close, though).
nieces and nephews birthday presents - FINISHED!
Christmas gifts - I finished a couple more and did some shopping. I'm feeling good about this area.

Write a book - I worked on this one and made some progress.

Get 7 hours of sleep per night - I started off the month really well and was feeling pretty great. This week I've been stressed and waking up at 2 am. That means I'm getting 4 to 4 1/2 hours of sleep. There hasn't even been time for a 10-minute power nap. So, I'm ending the month tired but I had three really good weeks so I'm counting this one as mostly a success.

Conclusion: Someone come kick my butt and get me back in gear for September!

resolution check-up

I can't believe another month has gone by and it's once again time for a check-up on my goals. The first month of summer has not been exemplary as far as goal-achievement-too much playing!

Lose weight - I've definitely lost weight this month. Unfortunately, I just keep losing the same weight I'm gaining. I gained 3 for my birthday and had to lose them. I gained 3 or 4 camping and had to lose them. I gained a few more at Youth Conference and had to lose them. In other words, I've yo-yoed all over the place but the net result is at least I'm not UP in the weight category.

Earn YW Medallion - I'm still down to one project and one achievement (same as last month). The only difference is that I've worked on the project for another 5 hours (this will be WAY over the 10 hour project requirement). I am considering waiting for McKayla so we can get our medallions together. That would be really cool!

Write my grandma's life history - I have spent several hours working on this during the month. Yeah! I am making progress. I've added another 10 pages for a total of 35 pages written but still have a bit more to write and then it's going to take quite a bit of editing. I still wonder if I'll be able to pull this one off by the end of the year.

Do major projects early
CPE - My total for the year is 44 hours. -FINSIHED in May
Christmas cards - I got them all cut out.
nieces and nephews birthday presents - FINISHED!
Christmas gifts - I finished only one more.

Write a book - I worked on this one a couple of times during the month but my progress is still very slow.

Get 7 hours of sleep per night - I didn't do too badly on this one (summer and vacations help - youth conference didn't).

Conclusion: Again this month I am content with my progress. I'd like to focus more on the book and the Christmas cards.

resolution check-up

Three months into the new year and time for a check-up on my goals.

Lose weight - Doing great on this one. I've been eating much healthier and much less and I am losing weight. I had 3 sizes of clothing in my closet. As of last Friday, NOTHING fit. It was all falling off me! I had to go buy a new pair of jeans so I have something to wear. That was really exciting!

Earn YW Medallion - Progressing well here. Working hard on one of my projects. I have 2 projects and 3 achievements left to finish.

Write my grandma's life history - I have spent several hours working on this during the month. Yeah! I am making progress.

Do major projects early
CPE - I did 8 hours this month bringing my total for year to 20 hours.
Christmas cards - I have come up with the idea for the card. (Slow progress but the idea is often half the battle.)
nieces and nephews birthday presents - FINISHED!
Christmas gifts - I finished one.

Write a book - Haven't done a darn thing!

Get 7 hours of sleep per night - Week one I had 2 nights with at least 7 hours of sleep. Week two I had THREE nights and felt so incredible! It really gave me a burst of energy. Week three was horrible and I didn't manage 7 hours even once. So tired! Week four was back to 2 nights. So, I would have to rate my progress on this goal as so-so. I am going to shoot for 3 nights per week for the next month and see if that is do-able.

Conclusion: Other than the book and the sleep, I am happy with my progress. It has really helped reporting it this way each month. I feel accountable and really focus on my goals more.
