New York trip - Day Three
Our first stop of the day was the Sacred Grove. Words fail me. It was definitely a sacred place full of peace and tranquility.
I LOVE that my children get along well together!
McKayla in the Smith family frame home. Alvin built it for his own famiy but died before he was married (he was engaged).
The Alvin" tree - planted by the Smith family in remembrance of Alvin.
The cooper shed. The Smith family made money by building barrels and sap buckets.
The prophet once hid the plates in the cooper shed loft. The mob searched the cooper shed, even tearing apart all the barrels but they didn't look in the loft.
In the Smith log home we saw a sister missionary who knew Alec from Riverton High. It doesn't seem to matter where we go, someone always knows Alec. After our tour of the Smith family farm, we headed to the Palmyra Temple. The 4 kids did baptisms for the dead. Kevin did the baptizing and confirming. I handed out towels and watched. It was a beautiful, spiritual experience.
We also went to the Grandin Building where the Book of Mormon was printed and to the Martin Harris home. We made a quick trip back to the hotel for swimming for the boys and a nap for the girls. Then we got dinner at an all-you-can-eat pizza buffet before attending the Hill Cumorah pageant. Great!
