April Fool's Dinner

One of our family traditions is a silly dinner for April Fool's day. The kids expect it so it doesn't "fool" anyone but they still enjoy it.

This year's menu was "grilled cheese sandwiches" (grilled pound cake with orange frosting between slices) and

"suckers" (glazed meatballs on sucker sticks).

Easter Egg Hunt

For years the Easter bunny has visited us on Saturday morning (You see, I can make special arrangements because I "know" people - heehee!).

So, yesterday the kids awoke to Easter baskets and a huge egg hunt.





They've probably been on a sugar-high since!

Fort Worth Water Gardens

On Friday after the museum we stopped at the Water Gardens. Unfortunately, the water was turned off.

However, the kids had a great time climbing "The Mountain."

Fort Worth Science Museum

We had so much fun yesterday at the science museum. We started off our afternoon with the IMAX Theater productin of Forces of Nature. Other than me getting motion sick, it was pretty incredible.

We rode a 4-D ride regarding energy and then saw the ENORMOUS Universal Vibrator machines they use to locate natural gas.

Everyone loved the outdoor water toys.






The highlight for me was the special exhibit - The CSI Experience. We got a case file; got to examine the crime scene; get test results back from toxicology, DNA, fingerprinting, etc; got to view the autopsy; and then got to make our "guess" as to what the evidence showed. I really enjoyed it (but then again, I am a huge CSI fan).

I often wonder if my children will grow up with a totally skewed way of viewing the world (or at least of viewing travel).

Since Kevin is an airline pilot, we get free flights. It is awesome!

We've done things like fly to San Diego for the day to go to Sea World or the San Diego Zoo. We've flown to San Francisco for the day to ride cable cars and visit the sea lions. We rarely take road trips; we hop on airplanes.

My kids are gonna think this is normal.

I think they're spoiled.

It doesn't help that last night we hopped a plane to DFW and every one of us got to sit in first class. Yep, that's right, first class baby! Complete with them asking if they can get you something to drink every few minutes and roomy seats with plenty of leg room. Complete with your choice of pretty good dinners (think fresh strawberries and pineapple) served on real plates with real silverware. SPOILED!

My children are going to be ruined for future travel with their own families.

But, oh, it is so much fun for right now!

The weather here is driving me to Texas!

Wednesday night I spent 4 hours outside at Alec's track meet. That might have been a good thing except the wind blew the entire 4 hours. In fact, it had blown all day. Not just a nice little spring breeze but powerful gales! The wind was the most dust-filled wind I've ever seen. The sky was completely dirt-filled! I still felt the grit in my teeth the next morning (and, yes, I do brush). My skin felt gritty and I couldn't get a comb through my hair. Since I wear contacts, I cried for the entire 4 hours!

Thursday morning I came out of Jazzercise class to find it snowing. It snowed all day. It must have snowed all night as well since I now need to go shovel my sidewalks and driveway.

This is no April Fool's joke.

What is a girl to do?

I'm doing what any sane, rational person would do - escape to Texas. Yep, that's right. I'm packing my bags and 4 of my children and heading to Fort Worth for a few days.

But first, I have to endure a soccer game outside tonight in Heber City (higher elevation than we are here so probably colder and snowier).
